UV DTF is a completely different animal from fabric DTF, and if the sales pitch you got somewhere else does not say that in the first sentence, walk away. Our UV DTF is a UV-cured decal on a two-part carrier. Peel the top layer, apply to the hard surface, burnish, and remove the transfer backing.

  • Trying to press UV DTF on fabric. It does not work. UV DTF is UV-cured on top of the substrate. Fabric flexes, the decal cracks and peels. Cotton absorbs, the bond never sets. Every shop that tries this once ends up back on the DTF Transfers hub. Save yourself the reprint.

  • Ordering UV DTF for commercial dishwasher environments. Commercial dishwashers run hotter and use aggressive detergent. UV DTF is rated for household top-rack cycles, not bar and restaurant use. If your customer is a bar owner or restaurant with commercial wash, sublimation on white powder-coated stainless is the right method. We will tell you the truth on this every time.

  • Applying UV DTF to a cold or dusty surface. The substrate has to be clean, dry, and at room temperature. Cold tumblers from a warehouse fog when you bring them into a heated shop. Wait for the fog to clear, wipe with isopropyl, then apply. Applying to a cold or dirty surface is the number one reason first-time UV DTF customers think the product is bad. It is the substrate prep, not the decal.

  • Underestimating the difference between UV DTF and raised UV. Raised UV is not a fancier name for the same product. It is a different print process and it costs more. If a customer asks for the raised, dimensional look on retail-grade packaging, that is raised UV. If they just want a flat printed decal, standard UV DTF is fine. Quote the right one so nobody is surprised at invoice.

There is a permanence gap most competitors will not admit to. UV DTF applied to a food-safe tumbler is durable for hand wash and top-shelf dishwasher for hundreds of cycles. UV DTF applied to bottom-rack, high-heat, restaurant-grade dishwashers has a shorter life because the chemistry of commercial detergent is designed to strip decals. If you are selling to a bar or restaurant that runs commercial wash, we recommend sublimation or laser engraving instead. That is the honest answer.

Raised UV is our premium variant. Same substrate rules, but the decal has physical dimensional relief you can feel with your finger. It reads luxury on retail-grade acrylic display, on hang tags, on custom packaging, and on high-end phone cases. It costs more because the print head passes multiple times. It looks like it, too.
