Who This Is For

The shop or brand that should hit order.

Every product on Golden is opinionated. If your work matches one of the descriptions below, this is the right pick. If not, keep reading and we will point you to the right one.

  • Bar and restaurant staff shirt programs running a single logo in white on black or navy uniforms.

  • Streetwear brands doing minimalist white typography or bold single-color logos on dark tees.

  • Athletic teams doing white numbers and names on dark uniforms without the plastisol hand feel.

  • Corporate uniform programs on navy or black polos where the logo has to read cleanly under fluorescent lighting.

  • Screen printers filling in on white-on-dark jobs too small to justify pulling a screen.

Who Should Skip This

When another product will serve you better.

We would rather lose the sale than ship you the wrong product. Every case below is real, from customer service calls. If any of them describes your job, click through to the alternative before you order.

Your art has any color other than white.

Crystal white is a monochrome white-ink product. If your design has any red, blue, or even a black outline, order standard DTF transfers by size, which include the white underbase automatically.

Custom DTF Transfers by Size

You are printing on white or heather-light fabric.

White ink on white shirt is invisible. Crystal white only makes sense on dark or mid-tone garments. For light-fabric decoration order standard DTF or plain HTV.

Custom DTF Transfers by Size

You want a soft water-based feel.

Crystal white is a solid opaque ink layer. It has a firmer hand than a discharge or water-based print. Beautiful bright white result, but not the vintage-soft look. Water-based screen is the only real option for that hand.

You want metallic or reflective white.

Silver foil DTF gives a shiny reflective finish. Crystal white gives a flat matte-white finish. Order foil instead if the design calls for shine.

Fabric Compatibility

What we have actually pressed this on.

Crystal white uses the same DTF film and press cycle as standard DTF. The compatibility matrix is unchanged. What changes is which fabrics make the white pop, and which fabrics need extra press finesse to keep the edges crisp.

  • Black or navy 100% cotton

    Excellent

The reference case. 315 F, 12 seconds, medium-firm. Crystal reads at full brightness even under warm indoor lighting.

  • Charcoal, forest, burgundy heavy cotton

    Excellent

Same settings. The mid-value dark backgrounds still let white pop at 100 percent opacity.

  • Black or navy 50/50 blend

    Excellent

Cleaner corners than 100% cotton. Slight edge on wash durability. Standard press cycle.

  • Black polyester (performance, athletic)

    Good

Drop press temp to 285 F, 10 seconds. Watch for dye migration on cheap black polyester, especially with red or blue undertones.

  • Black tri-blend

    Excellent

The retail-feel favorite for white-on-dark. Soft hand plus crisp white edge. Perfect for boutique streetwear.

  • Heather dark (any composition)

    Good

Reads well on true darks. On lighter heathers (heather gray) the contrast drops and the effect is muted, use standard DTF instead.

  • Fleece (dark, 10 oz plus)

    Excellent

Pre-press the pile flat first. Full opacity holds through 50 wash cycles on heavy hooded fleece.

  • Light or pastel fabrics

    Avoid

White on white or white on pastel disappears. Wrong product for this substrate. Use full-color DTF or leave the fabric untreated.

Material and Feel

What is actually on the film, and how it wears.

What is on the film

A single layer of 100 percent opaque white pigment ink laid down at maximum density, with a micro-feathered edge algorithm that softens the outline by about 0.4 mm so the transfer reads crisp instead of pixel-sharp. Same polyurethane adhesive powder and same PET carrier film as our full-color DTF. Zero color layer, which means no visible tinting on top of the white and no risk of color bleed into the fabric on hot pressing.

How it feels on the shirt

Brighter and more opaque than a screen-printed spot white on dark garments, and noticeably softer to the hand than plastisol spot white. Slight matte finish, not shiny. On black tees it reads at full contrast even after 30 washes. The micro-feathered edge means large curves and rounded type look intentional, not jaggy, which matters more than most decorators realize until they see the difference at a two-foot viewing distance.

Real-World Uses

Where this product actually goes to work.

Not a marketing list. These are the jobs decorators, brands, and shops order this product for every week.

  • Bar and restaurant staff tees with white logo on black

  • Wedding party tees with white typography on dark shirts

  • Security and event staff uniforms

  • Corporate polo programs with white logo on navy

  • Athletic team names and numbers on dark jerseys

  • Church volunteer shirts on black or navy

  • Merch drops where the design is intentionally minimalist

  • Retail streetwear with bold single-color typography

Artwork Requirements

Prep your file right the first time.

Ninety percent of print quality issues trace back to the file. These are the specs our production floor wants to see when the job hits the queue.

File types

PNG with transparent background is preferred, with white artwork on the transparent field. AI, EPS, SVG, and PDF accepted. Anything that is not transparent will print as opaque white, so files with white backgrounds will print a solid rectangle of white ink. Not what you want.

Resolution

300 DPI at the final press size. White ink is unforgiving, low-resolution files show pixel steps on curves because there is no color transition to hide them.

Color and profile

Every non-transparent pixel in the file becomes 100 percent opaque white. Grays and semi-transparent areas quantize to solid white or nothing, no gradients possible. If your design has gradient shading, order standard DTF and let the CMYK layer handle it.

Sizing and cropping

Same square-inch pricing engine as standard DTF. Transparent whitespace inside the bounding box is included in the calculation because that is what reserves press time. Crop your file tight.

Frequently bought together

Add these to your white-only order.

Reprint Guarantee

If we mis-produce it, we reprint it free.

Every Golden DTF order carries the same written guarantee. Email us within 14 days with your order number and a photo, a production lead reviews it within one business day, and approved reprints ship free with tracking. You never re-upload and never re-pay.

Color off the file you sent

If the printed transfer does not reproduce the file you uploaded, allowing for the difference between a backlit screen and printed ink, we reprint it. We calibrate our press against the same target ICC every day and keep a press log for every run.

Missing ink or dropout

White ink dropouts, thin black lines that did not lay down, or missing detail from a small text run: if it left our shop that way, we reprint it.

Film delamination before press

If the PET film separates before you press the transfer, that is a materials defect, not user error. We track film lot numbers per production run.

Wrong size or wrong file

If our team packed the wrong artwork or produced at the wrong size, we cover the reprint plus the reship.

Common Questions

Everything you need to know about dtf transfers.

What is a crystal white DTF transfer?
A crystal white DTF transfer is a white-only print on standard DTF film with no CMYK color layer. The white ink is laid down at 100 percent opacity with a micro-feathered edge so it reads crisp and bright on any dark fabric. Transparent areas of your file remain unprinted, so only the white design transfers.
How does crystal white differ from a regular DTF white underbase?
A regular DTF transfer prints a white underbase behind a color layer to make the color render correctly on dark fabric. Crystal white is just the white layer with no color above it. The result is a pure, bright white graphic intended for monochrome logos and text-heavy work on dark substrates.
What fabrics does crystal white work on?
Cotton, polyester, nylon, tri-blends, fleece, and most apparel substrates. It is designed for dark fabric application where pure opaque white needs to read at full contrast. On light fabrics the design still applies but the visual impact is lower than CMYK.
Do I need to prepare a special file for crystal white?
Upload your design with white art on a transparent background. Anything in the file that is meant to print should be set to white. The system processes the file so only the white areas transfer, leaving the rest of the garment untouched.
What press settings does crystal white use?
Same standard DTF settings as our color transfers. 300 to 325 degrees F for 10 to 15 seconds with medium-firm pressure and a warm peel. Cotton and cotton blends press hotter, performance polyester runs cooler.
Is there a minimum order for crystal white transfers?
No minimum. Order one transfer or a hundred at the wholesale base $0.06 per square inch rate. Pre-cut is available for $0.29 per transfer if you want them ready to press without trimming.
