Adhesive decal replacement on porous substrates
Unsealed wood, unfinished ceramic, and raw fabric will not hold the UV bond. Use standard UV DTF gang sheets for those applications.
Curved surfaces above 3 inch radius bend
The raised UV component bonds best on flat or gently curved surfaces. Extreme curves (small mug walls, curved bottle sides under 3 inch diameter) require the flexible UV DTF instead.
Silicone, untreated polyethylene, polypropylene substrates
These low-surface-energy plastics resist UV adhesive bond without extensive surface preparation. Not economical at production volumes.
Single-unit runs and short-run OEM prototypes
The setup cycle for hard-good components is priced at 10 unit minimum. For 1 to 9 unit prototypes, gang the emblem onto a custom UV DTF sheet instead.
Every rating below comes from our press bench, not a manufacturer spec sheet. If a substrate is not listed, we have not tested it. Send us a sample and we will.
Dishwasher-safe when applied to clean, oil-free glass. Alcohol wipe before application.
Powder-coated tumblers included. Light scuff with 800-grit improves bond on textured powder coats.
Aerospace-tier bond. Alcohol wipe pre-application. No primer required.
Sign shop staple. Bonds cleanly to cast and extruded acrylic.
Glazed ceramic only. Unglazed ceramic is too porous for the UV bond.
Most rigid plastics accept the UV bond. Test PET drinkware individually.
Poly-sealed or lacquered wood only. Do not attempt on raw or oil-finished wood.
Portfolios, tags, and hard-good leather trims. Standard adhesion cycle.
Low-surface-energy substrate. UV bond will fail within days.
Requires flame or plasma treatment before UV bonding. Not economical.
Build height, feel, press cycle, peel behavior, wash durability, plus the production notes you would only know after your first run.
Each component is a rigid drop-in emblem, not a flexible film. Design placement must match the substrate contour at flat or gently curved locations.
Bond fully cures 24 to 48 hours after application. Do not run through dishwasher or heavy handling before cure completes.
Component thickness (0.4 to 0.6mm) means it will feel proud of the substrate. Design with this in mind for tool cases and enclosures that need flush finish.
Extreme temperature applications: rated -20F to 250F continuous operating range. Not for exhaust adjacent or high-temperature equipment.
Not marketing tradeoffs. The real "when to reach for this instead" call, made by people who run the presses.

If the printed transfer does not reproduce the file you uploaded, allowing for the difference between a backlit screen and printed ink, we reprint it. We calibrate our press against the same target ICC every day and keep a press log for every run.
White ink dropouts, thin black lines that did not lay down, or missing detail from a small text run: if it left our shop that way, we reprint it.
If the PET film separates before you press the transfer, that is a materials defect, not user error. We track film lot numbers per production run.
