Sports Team Kits: Roster Uploads, Numbers, Sponsor Strips, Deadlines

Rec leagues, travel teams, high school programs, and adult leagues. Roster-driven kits with numbers, names, and sponsor strips, all built to hit your season-opener deadline.

What This Is

The production perspective.

Team kits are a different production challenge from generic decorated apparel. You have a roster (fifteen to thirty players), each player needs a unique number, most also need a name on the back, and there's usually a team logo on the front plus one or more sponsor strips on the sleeves or back. That's four to six distinct printed elements per player, all on a technical performance fabric that fights standard printing methods.

Standard HTV numbers crack under the pull-and-flex of an athletic garment. Standard DTF on polyester needs a poly-blocker formula to prevent dye migration from bleeding pink into a white number after the first hot press cycle. Sublimation is an option for lighter colors but doesn't work on dark polyester. Our poly-blocker DTF formula is engineered for these garments and holds up to the game-wash-game cycle.

The workflow that works: upload your roster (name, number, jersey size) as a spreadsheet, we render each garment as an individual production job on a shared gang sheet, you press the transfers onto blank Sport-Tek K500 or Augusta blanks that we can drop-ship or you can source locally. Turnaround is same-day production for the transfers, meaning you can order Monday, press Wednesday, hit your Friday game.

For sponsor strips (the small logo on the sleeve or the back sponsor bar) we recommend keeping them on a separate gang sheet from the roster-driven pieces. It lets you reorder sponsor strips without regenerating the whole roster if a sponsor changes mid-season.

Who This Is For

If this sounds like your operation, keep reading.

  • Rec league coordinators

Youth soccer, little league, rec basketball. Multiple teams, multiple rosters, one league deadline.

  • Travel team parents

The parent volunteer who got roped into ordering kits for the season. Roster changes weekly.

  • High school athletic programs

Varsity, JV, freshman, and feeder programs. Multiple sports, staggered season starts.

  • Adult league organizers

Corporate softball, beer league hockey, adult flag football. Same roster-plus-sponsor pattern, adult sizes.

Don't Make These

How team kit orders miss the deadline.

  • Waiting on final roster before ordering.

The roster is never final. Order at eighty percent of confirmed players, plus a buffer of one or two blank jerseys per size. Add late-joining players in a second small run.

  • Using standard DTF on polyester jerseys.

Dye migration turns white numbers pink after the first hot press or game wash. You need poly-blocker DTF on polyester. There is no workaround if you skip this.

  • Bundling roster and sponsor strips.

Sponsors change mid-season. If your sponsor strips are on the same sheet as your player names, a sponsor change means reprinting the whole roster. Keep them separate.

  • Ordering the cheapest jersey blank.

A $6 jersey that pills in three washes hurts the whole season. Buy a Sport-Tek or Augusta blank at the ten-dollar price point. It will survive the season.
