Women's Fit Blanks for DTF: Sizing and Placement

Women's fit blanks use narrower shoulders, shorter body lengths, and side seaming that tapers into the waist, which changes your safe print placement area and the maximum transfer width that looks proportional on each size.

How Women's Fit Differs from Unisex

Women's fit blanks are cut with narrower shoulders, a higher armhole, a waist taper, and a shorter body length than unisex blanks of the same labeled size. A women's medium has significantly less chest width and body length than a unisex medium, which is an important distinction when designing for size-specific placement.

The waist taper in women's fit blanks means the garment is narrowest between the chest and hip, not at the chest. This creates a center panel that narrows as you move down the body, so large bottom-center or lower-torso designs can run into seam territory on smaller sizes.

Decoration Placement Rules

For a full-front chest print on a women's tee, size the design to fit the smallest size in the run, not the largest. If your size range includes XS through XL, size the print width for the XS chest width at the placement point and scale up proportionally. A print that looks right on an XS will look slightly smaller on an XL, which is preferable to a print that runs into the seams on an XS.

Left chest logo prints on women's blanks should be positioned 3-3.5 inches from the left seam and 4-5 inches below the collar, slightly lower than the same logo on a unisex tee, because the shorter body length and higher armhole shift the visual center of the chest.

Size Chart Guidance

Women's blank sizing runs 1-2 sizes smaller than unisex sizing across most brands. A woman who wears a unisex medium typically wears a women's large or XL in the same brand. When offering both unisex and women's styles in the same design, communicate this to customers clearly in your sizing guide.

Bella Canvas, Next Level, and Comfort Colors all offer popular women's styles that match their unisex blanks in fabric quality and color availability. Always order one of each women's size from a new blank before production to verify your placement dimensions against the actual garment.

Bella Canvas 6400 (women's relaxed fit), Bella Canvas 6004 (women's ideal), and Next Level 1510 are among the most widely ordered women's DTF blanks. All are 100% cotton, print beautifully with DTF at standard cotton settings (315°F / 15s / medium), and have excellent colorway depth.

For boutique and lifestyle brands, the Comfort Colors 3199 (women's boxy tee) offers the garment-dyed aesthetic of the 1717 in a women's silhouette. Press at 315°F for 15 seconds with a 5-second pre-press, identical to the 1717 protocol.
