Sport-Tek K500 Polo: Specs, Sizing, DTF Settings
The Sport-Tek K500 is a 100% polyester micro-pique polo with a traditional button-placket appearance and snag-resistant texture that accepts DTF transfers cleanly at 285°F with poly blocker on any light or white colorway.
Fabric and Construction
The K500 uses a 100% polyester micro-pique knit with a snag-resistant construction and built-in moisture management. The micro-pique texture replicates the classic pique grid of a traditional cotton polo but in a fully synthetic fabric. This makes it wrinkle-resistant, machine-washable without special care, and dimensionally stable across repeated wash cycles.
The K500 features a 3-button self-fabric placket, flat knit collar and cuffs, and a single back pleat for range of motion. It is available in 40-plus solid colorways and in extended sizes from XS through 4XL.
DTF Settings for the K500
Press at 285°F for 12 seconds at medium pressure. The K500 is 100% polyester, so standard poly settings apply. Apply poly blocker to the print area on any white or light-color K500 before pressing. Allow the blocker to dry fully (20-30 seconds) before positioning the transfer.
Pre-press for 3 seconds to remove moisture and any wrinkles from the polo surface. The micro-pique knit is smooth enough that DTF transfers bond cleanly without special preparation beyond poly blocker on light colors.
Sizing
The K500 runs true to size with a slightly athletic taper. It is not a boxy, traditional polo fit. A medium K500 has a more fitted silhouette than a medium Port Authority K110 cotton polo. Customers who prefer a loose, relaxed polo should size up one size.
For corporate uniform orders, order one of each size from the first batch for staff to try before committing to the full run. The K500's more fitted silhouette is the only point of contention on first orders. Once customers are sized, reorders are straightforward.
K500 vs the Competition
The K500 competes directly with the Port Authority K500 and similar polyester pique polos from Hanes, Jerzees, and Harriton. The Sport-Tek version is competitive on price, has excellent color depth, and performs reliably for decorated apparel work.
For customers who want the K500 aesthetic with embroidery instead of DTF, the micro-pique surface is also well-suited to left-chest embroidery.
